A pool that ignores the hardscape is a hardscape problem.
Pool decks have to fall away from the coping. Coping has to match the patio. The patio has to drain. The drainage has to run where the retaining wall lets it. When the same studio is drawing all of it, those joins resolve themselves — when they're separate trades, they don't.
